Hawke's Bay

Hester had a huge heart for everyone and was known for her generosity towards others no matter what she had going on at the time. She has given so much to all of us in different ways and there are many friends and family who have expressed a wish to help support Dave and the children. We have set up this page as a tribute to Hester and a means to provide some practical support for her family. There is no expectation and no gift too small but a huge appreciation towards anyone who would like to contribute.

We are Dave's extended family, wanting to raise funds to help support his family following the tragic death of his much loved wife Hester.

Use of funds

All funds will be used by Dave to transition to managing on a single income with two dependent children.

On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause. I'm glad I came across this page as it's a little way for me to do something for Hester, who did so much for everyone else. Hester was not only a fantastic hairdresser she was a fantastic person, genuine and so very kind. I looked forward to the salon catch ups and of course, there was many a chat about all her family, whom she loved so much. My thoughts and condolences are with Dave and the 4 wonderful kids. Take care. Rest in peace Hester, miss you x

Such sad news to hear of Hester's death. She was always so warm-hearted, kind and profressional and great to share news with, be it happy, sad or somehwere in between. Her skill as a hair stylist was second to none and her ability to get to know her clients was something special. I also really enjoyed hearing about the family - she spoke with such love and pride about all of the kids and Dave, most recently of course how well the twins had coped with the shift to the Hawkes Bay. Hester was so proud of you all. I hope the love she showed us all is reflected back and will help you, her special ones, to cope with your loss. My heartfelt wishes are with you. Bridget x x

I am deeply saddened to learn of the loss of Hester - such a special, warm, loving woman. In addition to working her magic with hair for her many clients, she made each of us feel welcome and special. Above all else, she adored her family and spoke lovingly of each of them whenever I saw her. Hester touched so many lives and I hope in the days ahead, her family and friends will find solace in that, as well as in the many wonderful memories she made with them. May Hester rest in peace.

I have only just been told the sad news and I am in shock. Hester was a beautiful person and an awesome hair stylist. I will really miss her. Sending my thoughts and condolences to Dave and the children.
