Supporting Hannah Furse and her family after the heartbreaking loss of their son Max in the Mount Maunganui landslides.
Auckland
As so many of you would have seen in the media- our good friend Hannah Furse and her family are facing an unimaginable loss. Their beautiful son, Max, was tragically taken from them in the recent Mount Maunganui landslides.
There are no words that can truly ease the pain of losing a child. Max was deeply loved, and his loss has left a hole in the hearts of his family, friends, and everyone who knew him. In the midst of their grief, Hannah and her family are now also faced with practical pressures no family should have to carry at such a time.
This Givealittle page has been created to wrap support around Hannah and her family—so they can focus on grieving, remembering Max, and being together, without the added stress of financial burden. Funds raised will help with immediate and ongoing costs, time away from work, and whatever support the family needs as they navigate the days and months ahead.
If you are able to donate, no matter how small, it will make a meaningful difference. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this page and keeping Hannah, her family, and Max in your thoughts.
Thank you for your kindness, love, and support during this heartbreaking time.
A Givealittle has also been set up to support the family of Sharon, Max’s beautiful girlfriend during this devastating time:

I have been close friends with Hannah and her family for over 23 years. I’ve had the privilege of watching Hannah through motherhood, and of seeing Max grow into the beautiful, much-loved child he is.
Funds will assist with day-to-day expenses, bereavement-related costs, and ongoing support for the family during this incredibly difficult time.
A heartfelt Thank You 17 February 2026
Today it has been one month since I last saw Max. He almost ran out of the driveway in excitement (after a quick kiss goodbye) to spend nine days away with his beautiful girlfriend Sharon and her family. It would’ve been the longest we’ve ever been apart. We miss him terribly, life is forever changed and everything feels so heavy without him. We want to thank everybody for their donations. While the money is of no comfort the care that we have experienced and all the messages of love and support from around New Zealand and the world has made this nightmare a little more bearable. Objectively I know the money will allow us time and support to grieve as a family accessing whatever it may be to get ourselves and Maxs’ younger siblings through this devastating time. We are forever grateful for your kindness.
