Making the most of what time shinnae has left let’s get everything ticked of her bucket list while we can!
Nelson / Tasman
Two weeks ago after Shinnae’s recent results of her CT scan we learned that she is no longer responding to treatment. Two surgeries, three rounds of chemo & five weeks of radiation we have now learned that Shinnae’s BRACCA1/ triple negative breast cancer has spread into both lungs making it untreatable. Shinnae’s oncologist has managed to get shinnae excepted on compassionate ground to try a new drug that hopefully she will respond too & give shinnae some more time we will find out in her next 3 monthly CT scan. If she doesn’t respond she will become palliative then terminal. Shinnae is about to turn 25 this month & we want to make the most of what time we have left with her.
Shinnae is my younger sister
Shinnae’s bucket list: jet boating, sky diving, bungy jumping, rally car driving, helicopter ride, road trip down south to Queenstown, road trip up north, sky tower, tattoo, Kelly tarltons, zoo, jet skiing, paddle boarding.
Devastating news 💔 14 June 2021
This wasn’t the update we we’re expecting 😔 specially 3 weeks after our last update getting positive news about the drug olaparib working, shinnae ended up in hospital very unwell the surgeon was suspect that the cancer had spread and was getting bigger again in disbelief after the CT scan results just 3weeks prior.
They did another CT scan with the results that shinnae’s cancer in fact had spread again and was growing the olaparib now wasn’t working.
Her oncologist took shinnae of the drug olaparib Since then shinnae has tried another oral chemo as there was 4 types she hadn’t tried.
Her body did not react well which made her extremely unwell again and was again admitted to hospital which then the doctors took shinnae off everything.
Since shinnae was taken off all medication and was feeling better we decided to tick some things of her bucket list shinnae, her mum & sister got a ta moko together by uprising tattoo in riwaka together to symbolise Shinnae’s journey.
Shinnae & step dad hans went on a 10 day road trip starting in Wellington making there way up to Auckland by car doing some exploring along the way.
Shinnae did a bungy jump off the sky tower then hans joined her to do a walk around the top of the sky tower also.
They went to Kelly tarltons also & the Auckland zoo where shinnae got to feed the giraffes and loved the elephants.
Shinnae also stopped into te awamutu to visit her dads grave who also passed of cancer.
Next stop if all goes well with shinnae’s health is queens town to do her next bungy jump.
Shinnae’s cancer is very aggressive & is growing at an extremely rapid rate she is now palliative care- terminal.
Shinnae does not want to know a time frame/estimate of how much longer she has left earth side so we are taking each day as it comes being grateful making the most while she is.
Shinnae does not have a life insurance & used all her savings fighting for her life along this journey anything else that is contributed is extremely grateful.
Lets try make what time she has left as good as we can!
Much love,
Shinnae and her family 💞
