Hoist for freedom and independance

Hi

I need help to raise the funds to purchase a hoist similar to the picture, which will help my carers to place me on and off my hand cycle without injuring them or doing further damage to myself. This assistance will give me the freedom to reach my goals. I need to focus on purchasing a hoist sooner rather than later so I can have a much needed operation. This operation will enable me to re-establish my self esteem and self worth.

In 1998 I was confined to a wheelchair due to an accident. An undiscovered injury revealed itself when I lifted my son aged 5 months (now 17 years old). I collapsed and have been unable to walk ever since. This injury was not accepted by ACC and is still not acknowledged by ACC. Now it is an effort to keep my weight down. My husband and I purchased a hand cycle just over 3 years ago and I enjoyed getting out and exercising. Since then, however, I have become unable to transfer myself onto and off the hand cycle without the risk of injury to myself. I currently need a bladder repair and have issues with a reoccurring hernia because of the added stress of weight to areas that are now considerably weaker because of past surgeries.

I have an extensive list of medical conditions which affect my health. It is not helping that I am very overweight. The main reason I am over weight is that I cannot exercise and my body is unable to process food the same as regular people because I have a colostomy which means I cannot eat a lot of foods because they cannot be digested well and absorbed in the large bowel . I have my food monitored and I am under the guidance of a team of specialists to monitor my health and ensure I lose weight in a safe manner.

It is my desire to have raised a total of $5,000.00 to cover cost I have received a quote from Medix21 offering a secondhand track and unit/motor This quote is for 21 days. Can you help me raise $5,000 in 21 days.
