The Championships are now over, and after 4 long hard days of racing, the NZ team came away with a quite a few medals, and Ione was one of the medalists. On the last evening Ione won Silver in the Womed Under 19 Points race. I am super exicted for her, so now it is onwards to National Champs and hard training aiming for Junior World champs in Astana Khazakstan August 2015
Ione has met up with the team and they are on their way out to Adelaide now. When racing starts on the 8th Ione will be very busy rtacing in the U19 womens Omnium, the Scratch and POints races, the Individaul Pursuit and the Team Pursuit. The Training camp for the U19 squad to prepare for the Oceania's was last week in Cambridge based at the Avantidrome. The week ended with the squad racing in the BikeNZ Classic event. The final race of the day was a surprise for the U19 girls; having finished their last race of the day, they were given 5 minutes to get back on the track to take part in the Elite Women's Points race. It was a hard race with the junior riders pulling out during the 100 lap race, though Ione was one of only junior rider who managed to gain points during the sprints. The latest picture is Ione during the points race. Now she has 10 days for the final preparations her at home before flying out to Australia on the 1st of October.
