A personal challenge to fundraise to support the amazing mahi the Gisborne RDA does for the community.
Gisborne
"Do the hard things" is a phrase that has become one of my mantras this year and it is a constant reminder as I train for my first Iron Man 70.3, taking place on the 1st of March, Taupo 2025.
Whilst watching similar events I have witnessed others raise funds for great and important causes. I thought I'd do my part and use this challenge of completing my first Iron Man 70.3 as a fundraiser for Gisborne's Riding for the disabled (RDA).
"The core purpose of NZRDA is to provide interaction with horses to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for people experiencing disability, or who have specific challenges or needs".
I have been privileged with the opportunity to help at the Gisborne RDA since last year and witness the amazing mahi they do. Seeing this in action is nothing short of inspiring, from a 90-year-old participant who is blind to individuals with chronic pain syndrome, autism or post stroke all finding joy and calm as they interact with and ride on the horses at the RDA.
The RDA has significant overhead costs to ensure that the horses have quality care and the daily programmes are run in well-maintained facilities. These costs are largely covered via donations through sponsors or fundraising programs.
In addition to keeping me motivated on my mission to complete a personal challenge, your goodwill with any donation small or large will go a long way in helping the wonderful work of the RDA that continues to make a difference in the lives of many Gisborne individuals. :)
Volunteer with the RDA, where we help to take care of the horses and prepare them for their rider. We also help ensure the safety of the participant as they ride and aid them with safely participating with activities while riding.
Daily costs incurred in the care of the horses, the running of the facilities where the horses are kept and programs are run.
Thank you! :))
Thanks heaps!
