Isla Goodwin

Isla was born with; Down Syndrome, micro-deletion of her 15th Chromosome (another genetic condition), AVSD heart defect (multiple holes in her heart), kidney reflux causing recurrent urine infections and requiring surgery and feeding difficulties due to low muscle tone and a heart defect.

Due to her medical diagnoses she has a developmental delay and low tone this means she has to work harder to achieve her milestones.

The first 11 months of her life she struggled due to her heart condition and went into heart failure at about 8 weeks old. Isla has had 7 surgeries at Starship since birth and countless appointments with doctors and specialists.

Despite the extra challenges Isla has faced she is a happy, cheeky 3 year old who loves the wiggles, dancing, water and getting into mischief. Her family are amazing and Laura and Matt are always looking for ways to support Isla to reach her potential.

They have managed to get Isla enrolled in an amazing course in Australia called NAPA (https://napacentre.com.au/). She will attend NAPA in Sydney this July for 4 hours a day, 5 days a week for 3 weeks!

In this time Isla will have access to a combination of Occupational therapy, physiotherapy and speech language therapy.

This does not come without a cost so this page is an opportunity to give back to Isla, Matt and Laura to help them achieve their goals as we all know they would be the first to help someone else. Please watch the video for more information about Isla and the course.
