Isla will be representing NZ at the ALL DANCE WORLD INTERNATIONAL championship 2019.

Isla is part of an elite team of dancers at The Society Dance Company, who specialize in Street Dance, and that have been invited to represent NZ at the prestigious ALL DANCE WORLD INTERNATIONAL competition in Orlando in November 2019. She will be competing alongside 42 other nations from 5 continents and against different genres of dance in the hopes of winning an international title, prizes and/or scholarships.

At only 15 years old with no professional dance training Isla has come a long way in her dance. In her three years of competitive hip hop/street dance. Isla has worked hard to achieve some great results in her dancing including coming 1st in her category at international competitions in Scotland and qualifying twice for the UDO world championships in Glasgow as well as performances with her current elite crew such as dancing the the NZ World 7s series.

Isla is extremely passionate, enthusiastic and committed to dance and shares her love of dance with others by volunteering to teach other students at schools and at the studio for little or no monetary gain. She works hard and spends much of her spare time in between school work and her own dance classes coming up with choreography to teach others.

Her desire is to be a dance teacher/choreographer and the opportunities in Orlando include being able to attend workshops with a high calibre of professional dancers which will be very beneficial learning for Isla to extend her own knowledge and skills in dance. Any knowledge and skills Isla gains while attending this competition and workshops will be able to go into her own choreography and teaching of others.

It is very difficult to gain grants and scholarships in NZ, because dance isn't as widely recognised as other sports/cultural events and although Isla has worked hard to fundraise money she still has a quite a long way to go. Any money raised will be a big help towards Isla achieving her goal.
