At 16 Enzo will live life as a tetraplegic. Alongside all the love he has and treatment, funds will be needed to achieve a life well-lived.
Canterbury
On Friday 31 st January 2020, the Enzo and his mates went for a swim as they often did from the wharf in Moncks Bay Christchurch. Playing around on the sand island in the middle of the estuary, Enzo Halliburton dived into the water and did not resurface.
Unbeknown to his friends he had seriously injured his spine in that dive, and could not use his legs.
When his friends realized they pulled his now unconscious body from the water and began
mouth to mouth resuscitation. The boys called for help and were assisted by the St Johns
Ambulance, and also the Sumner Surf Life Saving.
Enzo is currently being treated in ICU at Christchurch Hospital and will be transferred to
Burwood Spinal Unit in due course.
Enzo has suffered a C5-C7 spinal injury that will result in life in a chair and many challenges, unknowns and complications to overcome.
One thing we know for sure is that Enzo has been growing into a fine young man with a generous heart and an adventurous spirit. He will repay your support by continuing to become a fine young man and to live life to the maximum.
We have set up a Give A Little page to support Enzo 'in life' - for education, life choices, equipment and personal supports.
If you are someone who wants to see a young 16 year old live the best life he can in such life-changing circumstances, then this is the page for you to support and we thank you from the very deepest part of our hearts.
Hello, we are a family of 4. Myself, Guy, Madeleine and Enzo.
Future-proofing for Enzo- educational choice, equipment, new treatment technologies and life choices. Should we/ he find there to be greater funds than needed to meet these aims then monies would be donated to the Spinal Unit Christchurch New Zealand.

Hello there team Enzo. I know we closed the page but I felt an update might be a nice thing to do.
So Enzo is just that- Enzo. Occasional blips in his self image but really just getting on with life.
He has had his nerve surgery for some hand movement and this is looking promising.
In May he is having big surgery to try imitating tricep work and he is trying to get as strong as possible for this.
He can push 4 km, curl 5 kilo, swim 20 25m lengths and is learning to use his electric
MTB.
School is back on the agenda and the game console sorted.
His friends are magnificent and an essential part of his well being.
Thank you one and all for being a part of this dear boys journey. I trust this finds you all well and happy.
