Jacinda needs support

  • DVT Blood Clot Removal

      22 August 2026

Jacinda is scheduled to have her blood clot removed on 24/08/26 at Auckland City Hospital. There will be several teams of specialists involved. They will access the blood clot through the back of her knee, possibly also the groin and through the neck. There is also a vein that was a little crushed from the massive cyst that may require a stent. During the same operation they will also most likely remove the filter that was inserted to stop the blood clot from moving during her prior surgeries. Jacinda is still holding up well except for the continual blood tests as she does not have any good vein on her left side for them to get the blood required to test her levels - these are now done every 6 hours. (Better than the 3 hours prior). But she is now a pin cushion with loads of bruises.

  • Blood clot in leg

      19 August 2026

19/08/26 Jacinda is in loads of pain and on many types of pain relief today. Along with the never ending blood thinners. For the first time in quite a while she is able to lie almost flat on her back though. She has a sticky compression bandage around her middle. I did note that the swelling on the left sole of her foot had gone down a bit but nothing noticeable anywhere else yet. The vascular team will be watching her leg for the next two days to see if any swelling decreases. If not they will be doing another surgery which would entail going through the back of her knee and through her groin, to remove the blood clot. We will still be left with a future surgery to remove the filter in her main artery I believe.

  • Stomach Operation

      19 August 2026

18/08/26 After a horrendous night and enough blood thinners pumped in, Jacinda went into surgery. They drained 8.5 litres - which is approximately 8.5kgs from the cyst. They removed the left ovary and the left tube. They found a smaller cyst on the right ovary and removed that also. All other organs were clear and ok. Thank you to the wonderful team at Auckland City Hospital.

  • Blood clot filter

      19 August 2026

On 17/08/26 Jacinda underwent an operation through her neck vein to input a filter to block the blood clot from any dangerous movement in preparation for her tummy operation. Unfortunately approximately 4 hours after the operation the neck spurted blood. Thankfully a nurse was in the room at the time and immediately put pressure on her neck and hit the emergency button. The team worked quickly and managed to contain the blood flow from her neck. They also applied a stitch. Thankfully this was a minor vein which had been affected by the blood thinners Jacinda had been taking through her drip in preparation for her operation the following day. (Jacinda said I was trembling at the start - honestly can you blame me?).

  • Auckland City Hospital

      15 August 2026

Hi, We are departing to the Auckland City Hospital 16/08/26 at between 7-9am. Jacindas leg measures the same as yesterday, so I am hoping that is a good sign. We've been told different things about her cyst/mass so I guess we'll know which one is correct after the operation.
