Jack is diagnosed with terminal cancer. Sally-Anne's given up work with four children - two at primary school. Please help
Canterbury
Jack has galantly fought cancer for several years and just when we thought he would win the battle and his wife took on a new job he was given a diagnosis of terminal prognosis. Jack and Sallly.Anne have four children and two are still at primary school
We are fundraising to help them through the next period of their journey and allow them to fulfill their dreams.
Latest updates on Jack's sitruation is:
A letter from the hospital has confirmed that could be reduced a short number of WEEKS without the treatment newly available but unfunded yet in NZ.
Palliative Chemotherapy we were told, has a reasonable chance of improving prognosis. On AVERAGE it may extend life expectancy to 6 -12 months but the ideal option that the doctors have mentioned in their report is NEW drug Immunotherapy Pembrolizumab . There is evidence that patients with colon cancer with deficient mismatch repair ( which Jack has as he has LYNCH SYNDROME) did seem to preferentially respond to immunotherapy . This treatment is approximately $7500 per 3 weekly dose over 6 months or more.Approx $45,000 to $60,000. Unfortunately the New Zealand Government does not fund the treatment as it is such a new drug that has only just been released this May. This drug worked for President Jimmy Carter!!
It is our aim to raise the funds to treat Jack.
The update on Jack's situation is:
As of Monday the requirement is that the family must pay just under $9300.00 every three weeks to confirm that the hospital will order the medicine for the treatment on the following Thursday. I am pleading with anyone who sees this to help in any way. Share the page and pledge if possible.
Thank you so much for your amazing generosity so far.
I am a family friend who wants to ensure that they get to spend as much time together as they can and make memories without suffering hardship.
To make sure that the family can afford to pay bills and have quality time while they are able.
New Beginnings for Jack and Sally-Anne 4 April 2018
I would like to thank each and every generous donor who assisted Sally-Anne and Jack's fundraising efforts towards his medications costs. Sally-Anne and Jack are about to embark on new beginnings in Takaka where Sally-Anne will begin her new job soon. With the recent sale of their home to support their new journey I will be closing this fundraiser. Again I would like to thank everyone for their support and wish Jack and Sally-Anne all the best in their new life in Takaka.
