Fundraising for Child Cancer
Nationwide
I have written a book on our journey that followed my brave 7 year old daughter’s battle with an inoperable brain stem glioma. She was diagnosed two weeks before her 7th birthday and lost her battle 9 months later.
While at Starship, I spoke to several nurses and trawled the internet for books and information hoping to find stories of others that had travelled this sad road. I wanted to prepare myself for the worst. I wanted to be able to help myself cope with what was ahead of us. I struggled to find anything. Everyone copes in their own way and my way was trying to prepare myself for what was ahead. This is why I decided I wanted to share Jackson’s Journey; our journey. So if my book can help one family then I believe Jackson’s story and the heartache of writing it was well worth it.
From the day she was diagnosed I wrote in a diary every night which I have used in my book which starts at the day she entered this world to six years after we lost our princess. I hope my story brings people who read it joy, laughter, tears and a greater understanding what it is to have a child taken too soon.
If my book can help one family prepare for what is ahead of them by reading it, then I have succeeded.
All proceeds made from my book will be donated to Child Cancer to give back to a charity that helped us through the toughest time of our lives.
My books are $30.00 each and can be ordered by emailing Jackson.jae@clear.net.nz or phoning 0273081142 for details. All donations that are given will go towards publication of books and I then plan to head to Auckland to donate all proceeds of my book to Child Cancer in October 2015.
The cost to publish 250 books is $5,600.00 which works out just over $22.00 per book to get printed. Although I have had some help from businesses I still need a little more and any contributions towards publication will help for more money to be given to a wonderful charity.
