Nelson / Tasman
Hi, my name is Jake Robinson, I am 18 and a former student of Garin College.
I am one of 24 students selected to represent New Zealand as a member of Shakespeare Globe Centre New Zealand - Young Shakespeare Company (2016), which will undertake workshops and a trip to perform at the Globe Theatre in London. The cost of the trip is estimated at $8500.
I have taken part in 4 Regional festivals, twice making the National Finals. In 2014, I won Most Elizabethan Production with my friend Callum McIntosh. This year I was the SGCNZ/ Morrison Music Trust Music Competition Supreme Winner for my arrangement of Sonnet 130 as a pop/rock song.
I also have been in over 20 productions as an actor, director or crew. Highlights include Judas (JC), Max Bialystock (Producers), Roger (Rent) and Marius (Les Miserables). Last year I gained an Associate of Trinity College London in Musical Theatre with Distinction.
I wish to pursue a career in the performing arts and so this represents a great opportunity for me.
Any money I am lucky enough to receive will be used to fund flights, accommodation and insurance. Any contributions will be greatly appreciated.
Tasman has done brilliantly this year with my friends Nick, Brook and Dylan also being selected.
