Jake's hard work and determination has put him in a position where dreams become reality but current circumstances means he needs your help.
Wellington
Jake moved to Wellington from Nelson with his family to follow his dream and passion for football.
Jake has represented the Nelson district four times, but in 2013 his horizons expanded when he trialled for the Wellington Phoenix Football Academy (WPFA) and was offered a placement. Whilst this was a huge move for all of his family, they fully supported him, and Jake took up the placement in late January 2014. His first year was exceptional, both academically and from a football perspective. He became a regular starter for the academy, competing on occasion with players three and four years older than himself. The year ended on a major high, with Jake being awarded a leadership role at his college.
The start of 2015 has been indifferent for Jake.
From a scholastic perspective he has continued to excel with excellent results attained in all of his chosen subjects. However, his football has suffered due to a recurring pelvic and lower back injury which was initially misdiagnosed in the middle of 2012. In addition to this Jake has recently been diagnosed with Coeliac Disease. The combination of these two issues has led to Jake being unable to train for three months.
This has been difficult for Jake and his family. Finances are stretched with his Mum having broken her leg recently and his Dad working hard to establish a business in Wellington. Costs are increasing with the treatment needed for his back and his diet as well as the ongoing costs of his football.
Jake is a motivated, enthusiastic and talented individual who has a determination to make it professionally.
He is looking for help to get him there.
We are two very proud parents who work hard to support our eldest son to achieve his goals. Financially this is becoming a struggle and we need help to enable Jake to continue on this journey.
