Otago
Jarrod Kenny, Tall Black & star point guard for the 2020 Fluid Recruitment Otago Nuggets, promised to cut off his mullet in the Octagon if the Nuggets won the Sal's NBL Showdown Basketball Championship. Last Saturday the Otago Nuggets (and Jarrod) made history by winning their first ever NBL title. Jarrod is keeping his promise and would like to use the event to raise funds to help young basketball players in Dunedin. Jordan Ngatai, Tall Black forward and No. 1 Draft Pick, promised Jarrod he would support his team mate in this quest and has offered to shave off his beard. Josh Aitcheson, local Otago Nuggets swingman, will also join Jarrod and Jordan on Sunday, and have his "mo" removed!
The Nuggets have set up a Hardship Fund which will be used to support young Dunedin basketball players across all levels. Funds raised will be used to financially support young players who otherwise wouldn't be able to participate in school competitions, development or representative programmes because of the cost involved to register.
This fundraising event will take place in the Octagon on Sunday, 9th of August, at 2pm. The person who makes the largest donation will get the first turn with the clippers when we remove Jarrod's mullet. Bloke Barbershop have kindly offered to professionally finish all cuts, and will be giving out vouchers on the day. Thank you Bloke for your support!
Join us at the Octagon, 2pm this Sunday (9th of August).
All of the money raised in this event will be used to provide financial support for young basketball players in Dunedin who may otherwise miss out on the opportunity to play.
