Jasmine has chronic Asthma and requires immunotherapy.
Northland
Jasmine was born 13 years ago, only 7 weeks premature.
From the moment she abruptly invited herself into the world early, I knew she was my little miracle. However, she developed pneumonia as many newborn premature babies do. This was the beginning of the struggle.
From moving into our first home, when she was released from hospital at her 'birth date' she showed struggles with her breathing.
She has spent a lot of time in and out of hospital and still to this day she struggles.
Sadly we ended last year in hospital, only just getting out to see family for Christmas then started this year in hospital from poorly controlled asthma resulting in bronchopneumonia again. On average she is hospitalised three times a year with recurrent bronchopneumonia. Bronchopneumonia is essentially inflammation of the bronchial airways, when the airways are compromised this causes infection to creep in, resulting in localised infection to the smaller airways and sometimes the lobes in the lungs.
I had hoped she would grow out of her asthma so pneumonia would be less frequent but through recent tests it showed very high allergy markers to dust mites, cats and dogs.
Dust mites being the worst, the test coming back in the thousands.
Jasmine will be commencing immunotherapy in months to come so I want to create as free of dust home as I can for her. We have such a strict regime and her flare ups still continue.
With any money raised we will be using it to go towards new bedding, covers, a portable air purifier and immunotherapy.
Now, don't get me wrong. Jasmines life has not just been about being sick. Jasmine lives a great life, is full of energy, love and is so outgoing! She loves circus class, she loves mountain biking. Animals are so special to her, especially dogs. She wants to own a dog rescue centre when is older. She does not let much stop her but when she has her flare ups, they are scary. So scary and she has no choice other than to be stopped.
I just want to know when Jasmine is all grown up and adulting the world like a champion I did everything I could to improve her quality of life.
Thank you <3
I want to fundraise this so Jasmine can have immunotherapy to try improve her breathing. I also need help with the bedding and equipment required for her to breathe easy. Thank you.
The money raised will go on allergy approved mattress with dust mite covers, pillows and pillow cover. Air purifier for her room and Immunotherapy.
Any excess money earned will go to an animal rescue centre as Jasmine wants to be a vet.
Doctor appointment 5 August 2020
We had a catch up with the doctor to discuss RAST tests and hes said the Dust mites are graded.
0 is no allergy
1 is a mild allergy
2 is a moderate allergy
3 is severe allergy
4 is very severe allergy,
Jasmine was 4 +
We have discussed the options and hes suggested to get onto getting a new mattress preferably a natural fiber or latex one with a protector with new pillows and bedding. Although we did new bedding not long ago the covers are synthetic and they love synthetics as a breeding ground.
A great tip was to twice a year wipe all surfaces down with a janola mix to kill any dust mites on surfaces.
Thank you so much!
