Selected to represent New Zealand on the 2021 Kiwi All Stars Team that will be traveling to the USA to showcase NZ Musical Theatre talent.
Bay of Plenty
My Name is Jean-Daniel Rosset.
I am 17 years old and in my last year of high school. I am a Musical theatre enthusiast and a passionate singer and performer. I have been involved in Seven Theatre Whakatane productions since 2013 playing his first role of Michael Darling in Peter Pan. I have performed a variety of characters in these shows, my most recent involvement has been playing the role of "Sky" in "Mamma Mia" and I am currently in Sound of Music playing the role of Rolf that will be in stage in September. This year I have been actively involved in all areas of school life; I am a National athlete in both swimming in gymnastics, and have had the honour of being deputy Head Boy of my School this year. I partake in private singing where I annually competed in the New Zealand Performic Arts competitions. This year I won multiple top three placings, certificates, and scholarships. Including winning the trophy for Best Musical Theatre performance. I am yet to sing in the NZ Aria signing comp later this year.
I am unsure of what the future holds for me, and I am currently clueless as to what I wish to study after school. Attending this Musical Theatre Experience may (or may not) help me to figure out what it is I want to pursue. Who knows you may one day see me on the big stage.
Recently I was selected to represent New Zealand as part of the 2021 Kiwi All-Stars team, that will be travelling to New York, Atlanta, And Los Angeles. As part of the All Stars Team We will be spending a week in New York City collaborating and rehearsing a group performance piece, as well as attending Broadway performances and acting workshops. In Atlanta, we will join 6500 other young performers at the Junior Theatre Festival where we will be attending skill development workshops presented by the world's best teaching artists, perform our presentation piece, and watch performances of brand new musicals as well as get advice and tips from celebrity guests. After the Junior Theatre Festival, the Kiwi All-Stars will head to Disneyland, Los Angeles, where we will be taken behind the scenes for an exclusive Disney Performing Arts workshop.
It is a great honour to be Representing New Zealand, but this opportunity does come at a financial cost, and I am here to ask you all to help me start this musical journey.
I am extremely excited to have been given this once in a lifetime opportunity. Attending this experience will give me the opportunity to enhance my musical theatre skills and my overall performance enjoyment. All donations will be greatly appreciated.
100% of the funds raised will pay for flights, accommodation, and tuition and other expenses as a part of the Kiwi All Stars Team to USA in 2021.
