Jedda’s unfunded fight for life

  • A Heartfelt Thank You 💚

      5 July 2025

To our incredible community of supporters,

We just wanted to take a moment to say thank you — from the bottom of our hearts. Your generosity, kindness, and encouraging words continue to lift Jedda and her family during one of the most challenging times they have ever faced.

As you know Jedda recently took the brave step by traveling to Mexico to explore holistic options in her cancer journey. While we are not quite ready to share more detailed updates at this moment, please know that your support & contributions helped with making that trip possible — and that means more than words can say.

Every message, every donation, and every bit of love shared here has been deeply felt. You are part of this journey, and we are endlessly grateful.

We promise to update you when the time is right. Until then, thank you for your aroha.

Much love to you all - kia kaha xx💚

I just wanted to reach out to let you know how grateful we are for the continued support with donations. Although the funds are showing high - these were from the the kind donations previously. All those funds have been used on Jedda's treatment to date, hence reinstating this page to try and help with her next part of the journey.

Financial stress while dealing with cancer is something none of us should have to deal with. Your contribution no matter how big or small helps alleviate some of that burden.

Once again from myself, her friends and importantly her whānau - thank you all so much for your continued support.

Ka nui te aroha me te tautoko ki a koutou katoa - So much love and support to you all xoxoxo

  • Jedda’s Unfunded Fight for Life – A New Chapter in Her Journey

      21 May 2025
    Main image

We are reopening this Give-a-little page as Jedda now faces a new and urgent chapter in her battle with cancer. Recent scans have revealed that the cancer has spread to her lungs and liver.

With conventional treatments no longer having the impact we had hoped for, Jedda is taking a courageous step forward. She flew to Mexico Monday 19th May to undergo alternative cancer therapies and attend a specialised cancer retreat in Cancún. This holistic treatment path offers renewed hope when conventional options are proving less effective.

The cost of pursuing alternative treatment in Mexico, combined with travel, accommodation, living expenses, and ongoing care, is considerable. That’s why we are asking—once again—for your kindness and support.

    How You Can Help

Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward:

    • Alternative cancer treatment and retreat costs in Mexico

    • Medical support and supplements during her stay

    • Travel and accommodation expenses

    • Ongoing care and support for her children and family while she is away

If you are unable to donate, simply sharing this page with your networks means the world.

We are endlessly grateful for your generosity, compassion, and belief in Jedda’s fight. Your support has already given her so much hope—and with your help, we believe she can continue to defy the odds.

    Arohanui x

  • Positive news on our Jedda

      26 July 2023

Earlier this year, Jedda received the remarkable news that her tumors had responded so well to the chemotherapy and Cetuximab treatment that she became a candidate for a three-stage liver surgery. She was promptly booked in for the first stage in late March. Now, five weeks have passed since her final stage of surgery, during which 70% of her liver was removed. Jedda is recovering well, and her latest pathology results show that her liver regrowth is excellent. Huge gratitude to Adam Bartlett, the liver surgeon. 👍🏼🙏🏻

Soon, she will start treatment for her primary tumor (bowel), beginning with five weeks of radiotherapy. Afterward, she will decide whether to undergo surgery for her bowel and further chemotherapy.

Jedda’s positivity and determination to not succumb to cancer are powerful and humbling ❤️.

  • Exciting update

      7 April 2023

The past few weeks Jedda has undergone two surgeries, the latest one being as recent as Monday. The surgeon has said it went better than expected which as you can imagine has been incredible news. The goal with the recent procedure was to stop or reduce the flow of blood into and out of the right side of Jedda’s liver by way of an embolisation of the right portal vein, middle vein and right hepatic vein, to induce hypertrophy of her left liver.

Once the left liver has doubled in size, in approximately one to two months, they will undertake surgery #3, which is to remove the right side liver. At this point Jedda’s liver will be free of all tumours🙏🏻

After that they will undertake to eliminate the primary CRC tumour, likely by means of focused radiation.

Jedda has had to overcome a few challenges with a couple of added complications during these surgeries but she is nothing but a trooper and is beating all odds.

The news is nothing short of a miracle and she is in such a great headspace which is the best news ever.

Having said all that we are still needing funds to cover for all her ongoing medical treatment and to help with raising their young whānau. 'RUN 4 JEDDA' is planned for May 27. This is a fun event that you can do on your own or with a group. Find out more https://www.facebook.com/events/8677970815609968?active_tab=about We still have more tee shirts available so have a read of the link and please help us raise money and awareness for Jedda.

Thank you all again for all your kind donations, messages of aroha and support. It goes without saying how blessed to have such wonderful people supporting her through this journey. Much aroha xxxx

  • Some positive news

      14 March 2023

Firstly, a massive thank you to all of you for your wonderful support during what has been and still is a tough journey for Jedda and her whānau.

Jedda is continuing to respond especially well to the chemotherapy and cetuximab plus some non-medical treatments and her tumors are beginning to shrink. This is such positive news, and we pray that they continue to do so. Jedda has recently been approved for her first surgery of the liver which only a few months ago we thought may not eventuate.

There is still a long way to go and a lot more funding required to enable Jedda to keep fighting this battle, so thank you all so much for your continued support. I cannot express how grateful we are.

In May we have a 'RUN FOR JEDDA' fundraiser arranged - feel free to join up and all it costs is a donation to this page to enter https://facebook.com/events/s/run-for-jedda/8677970815609968/

Kia kaha and much aroha to you all xxx

  • Jedda's Christmas update

      20 November 2022
    Main image

Recently Jedda had some scans and numerous tests which showed that the tumor's have shrunk 50% in total which is so encouraging. Her CEA level is at around 15 -17, down from 700+. Her body weight has increased 1.2 kg which is also positive. The Peripheral neuropathy has reduced, however still does cause discomfort. Jedda continues to be on the highest possible strength of chemotherapy and Cetuximab to try and fight this awful disease. Her next assessment is in approximately 3 months so will keep you all updated.

Jedda continues to be so positive and is spending as much time as she can with her loving family making special memories. Over Christmas she is looking forward to spending some quality time with family and loved ones. She wants to wish you all a safe, happy and healthy Christmas and thanks you all for your incredible support. From the bottom of my heart I to want to thank you all for being a tower of strength to Jedda and her family and wish you a wonderful and safe Christmas.

Take care - all our aroha xo

I've uploaded a recent photo of Jedda with the boys - Jedda has now lost all her hair and takes comfort in wearing a beanie. As for the boys you can see that the little one wasn't amused by his festive hat!! hahaha

  • Jedda's journey update

      28 October 2022

You are probably all wondering how Jedda is getting on with her treatment so thought I would give you all a brief update while we await for her next scan early next month which will hopefully give her some positive news.

Jedda is taking each day as it comes and does it all with a positive attitude. However the side effects of the chemo and Cetuximab are progressively taking there toll on her and becoming more difficult to endure. One is peripheral neuropathy, a neurological disability with pain and numbness to feet and hands and which is a real concern as it can without warning become permanent.

Weight loss is a constant challenge and she knows that she must eat to remain strong for the treatment so its a constant battle.

Her hair has all fallen out now, but I have to say she is one of the lucky ones and looks still so beautiful.

Once again I want to acknowledge and thank you all for your wonderful support so far. It is an absolute blessing to have so many wonderful people donating to help her through this.

If I can ask if you can continue to share this page far and wide so we can continue to raise as much as we can for this family that would be so appreciated.

In the meantime look after yourselves and take care - Arohanui Jan xo

  • Jedda continues her battle

      27 September 2022
    Main image

The past few weeks Jedda has been able to have access to the unfunded drug 'Cetuxamab' thanks to all of you for your incredible support, love and contributions. No words can describe how overwhelmed the family are with everyone's generosity. It's only natural that Jedda is starting to feel tired as the drugs do their thing. The family are all pulling together to give her tremendous support with not only her wellbeing but their beautiful children too. A top priority for Jack and Jedda is that they keep the children in a routine as best they can and spend as much quality family time together. Jedda's hair is thinning now hence wearing a hat most days. Thank you all again for your support and if I can continue to ask you to share this page so it continues to reach as many networks as possible.

This recent photo was taken during her last treatment last week - got to say she has the most beautiful smile x

  • Although it’s been five weeks since Jedda was informed about her cancer…

      15 September 2022

Although it’s been five weeks since Jedda was informed about her cancer she still finds it hard to believe...... Jedda has openly shared a few words to you all...

“It feels surreal, like I will wake up one day and I’ll see it was just a bad dream.”

The good news is she has now had her first cycle of the privately funded drug Cetuxamab.

“When I contacted the private oncologist to inform him I am ready to begin my infusions of ‘tux’ that was a big moment. This opportunity gives me more hope and I reflected on the generosity of all of you that have contributed to the Givealittle page and enabled me to pay for this treatment. It’s just so humbling, I can’t begin to express my gratitude - you are all such examples of humanity. And a huge thank you to all the mothers who have kindly donated their breastmilk for my little three month old Bohdi.”

Jedda is a positive person who focuses on what’s good in her life and that hasn’t changed. She is feeling strong and positive and taking each day as it comes. Overall Jedda is coping well and she hasn’t been overwhelmed by the changes in her life.

Jedda has now completed two cycles of chemotherapy and the physical side-effects have thankfully been mild. She did though have an emotional day when she discovered significant hair loss but nothing a good wig can’t fix.

Once again thank you all for your kind messages of support and donations....

So much aroha to you all xo

I just wanted to touch base with you all to once again thank you for all the love, support and koha. Honestly we are so grateful - today is Jedda's birthday and she is spending it with her loved ones.
