Help Jodie Wihongi fight invasive breast cancer.
Auckland
This is our beautiful sister, Aunty, Daughter, Mother, and Wife. Jodie is a 35 year old mother of two girls aged 3 and 4, she has been a New Zealand customs officer for the last 8 years, and has been dedicated to her fitness, cross fit and health. Unfortunately Jodie has had a dramatic change in her life, only four weeks ago Jodie was diagnosed with grade 3 locally advanced invasive breast cancer that is HER2 positive. The last few weeks have consisted of invasive procedures with frequent biopsies, scans, and tests. The cancer has spread to Jodie's lymph nodes, and she is waiting for a CT staging scan to see if it has spread further. Last week Jodie had a portacath inserted which goes directly to the neck and heart to make treatment easier, her treatment consists of 6 rounds of Chemo and Herceptin, each round of Chemo lasts 5-7 hours. Along with this Jodie requires 4 rounds of Pertuzumab (a cancer drug) which is not fully funded. By having the drug Pertuzumab it will increase Jodies chances by 60%-70% of the cancer shrinking to enable her to get the surgery she requires. After 6 rounds of Chemo doctors will see if this has shrunk the tumours enough for surgery, which will be a double Mastectomy, then radio therapy, 14 more rounds Herceptin, then breast reconstruction, if the tumours have not shrunk, she will have more rounds of Chemo. Any financial support or donations received will go directly for the cost of the drug, to help cope with loss of income and on going medical and living costs, as her husband, father, and mother in law also have to take long periods of time off work for regular hospital visits and treatment up to 5 days a week.
Jodie is our beautiful younger sister, we want to raise funds to help meet the costs of cancer drugs that are required & help her family with ongoing costs due to loss of income.

Jodies Progress 4 December 2018
Jodie would like to thank every single person that has made a donation so far, the family is overwhelmed with all the love and support shown at this difficult time. Unfortunately for Jodie the drug Perjeta is not fully funded for patients before surgery (neoadjuvant treatment) so the donations made so far have gone to covering the costs of the treatment and private oncology fees which totaled $20,000.
Jodie also ended up in hospital for over a week with pneumonia so the donations have helped incredibly with loss of income, travel, parking, medication and living costs.
Good news is though the cancer drugs and chemo are working and the tumors have shrunk! So all looking good for surgery end of January which once again the donations made will come in extremely handy to cover cost of loss of income and living costs.
