We are fundraising for Joe to help with the financial burden of recovering from major Brain Surgery
Cambridge, Waikato
About 2 years ago Joe started to have memory loss and seizures so for a normally very fit and active person this was very worrying, Joe went to the Dr several times but all tests returned normal, it wasn't until the seizures became very frequent that she returned to the Dr needing to find answers. Joe was eventually diagnosed with a very large brain tumour, the tumor was benign but still very dangerous and was very close to the optic nerve and carotid artery.
On the 28th of March 2022 Joe underwent 12 hours of brain surgery to remove the tumour, after 4 days in Hospital Joe was discharged to begin her healing at home.
Joe needed to take 3 months off work but returned to working 2 hours a day from home after only 6 weeks for financial reasons but also to help occupy her mind, Joe is now working 4 hours a day but without being allowed to drive for at least 6 months and very minimal government assistance times can be very stressful.
Joe still has a long recovery ahead but is doing amazingly well and she has said "I have been so blessed with my recovery and the outpouring of love from family and friends"
Joe would do absolutely anything for anyone without question and is such a giving person, selfless Mum to her 2 teenagers and a great friend to many so anything that can be done to ease the burden and pressure is much appreciated.
Joe has been a member of the gym that I have worked at for 17 years and also a work collegue.
The money will be spent replacing Joe's lost income so she can concentrate more on healing and recovering from such a huge surgery
