Joe's Garage 'Sound to Sound' Cycle Challenge in support of Life Education Trust

$1,340 donated
Given by 19 generous donors in 9 weeks

To raise funds for Life Education Trust by cycling the South Island 'Sound to Sound.

Taranaki

This will be the Joe's Garage Charity Cycle Riders fourth cycle challenge to raise funds for very worthy causes. After a break of two years, Joe's riders will be on their way again on 21 March to ride from the Marlborough Sound (Picton) all the way to Milford Sound in aid of the Life Education Trust. Approximately 18 of us (and counting) will ride close to 1400 KMs over 11 days , ascend nearly 12,000 metres on a route that will pass through Nelson, Greymouth, Arthur's Pass to Methven and Fairlie. We will then ride through the McKenzie Basin and over the Lindis Pass to Wanaka before arriving at Queenstown, Te Anau and on to Milford Sound arriving 31 March.

On the way south we will be hosted from time to time by local branches of the Life Education Trust. Every year Life Education supports kiwi kids to address many challenges facing children today such as obesity, substance use, mental health and well-being and bullying. Behaviours developed during childhood and adolescence are predictors of adult behaviours, so Life Education helps children learn about healthy eating being their 'good friend', good and bad substances and how their body works. Life Education Trust employs registered teachers who work in partnership with schools to meet the individual learning needs of children. Life Education Trust's very recognisable Harold the Giraffe visits many classrooms each year. Harold is a Giraffe because: giraffes stand tall (encouraging children to look up to their potential) and no two have the same spots (we're all different).

We, the Joe's Garage Charity Cycle Riders are very proud to raise funds for Harold and the work of the Life Education Trust. Please help us to do this by digging deep!

About us

We are a group of like minded folk passionate about making a difference to the people of Taranaki and the communities of New Zealand by doing what we love, riding our bikes. In doing so, we raise the profile of our chosen charity.

Use of funds

Funds will be distributed to all the regional Life Education Trust for front line education programmes.

Cancellation of Sound to Sound ride due to Covid-19  7 April 2020

Unfortunately due to Covid-19 , we had to indefinitely postpone our Joes Garage Sound to Sound charity cycle event. This was very disappointing to us all but in the circumstances, completely unavoidable. In the lead up to our departure to the South Island, many wonderful people donated to our Give A Little page intending to support our chose charity, the Life Education Trust. As we didn't carry out our mission to cycle south, we are offering donors a refund on their donation if they would prefer this. If not, the monies donated will be forwarded to the LET. Please contact Givealittle by Friday 17th April 2020 at helpdesk@givealittle.co.nz if you would like a refund. Thank you once again for your support. Watch this space, we fully intend to try the cycle tour again in 2021.
