Joe's Garage 'Sound to Sound' Cycle Challenge in support of Life Education Trust

$13,740 donated
Given by 127 generous donors in around 3 months

To date Joes Charity Riders have raised around $350,000. This money has helped The Life Education Trust and Mental Health.

Taranaki

This will be the Joe's Garage Charity Cycle Riders fourth cycle challenge to raise funds for a very worthy cause. After a break of three years including COVID 19, Joe's riders are very pleased to announce that we will be on our way again on the 13 March 2021. Starting from the Marlborough Sound (Picton) all the way to Milford Sound in aid of the Life Education Trust. Approximately 25 riders will ride close to 1400 KMs over 11 days , ascend nearly 12,000 metres on a route that will pass through Nelson, Greymouth, Arthur's Pass to Methven and Fairlie. We will then ride through the McKenzie Basin and over the Lindis Pass to Wanaka before arriving at Queenstown, Te Anau and on to Milford Sound arriving 23 March.

On the way south we will be hosted from time to time by local branches of the Life Education Trust. Every year Life Education supports kiwi kids to address many challenges facing children today such as obesity, substance use, mental health and well-being and bullying. Behaviours developed during childhood and adolescence are predictors of adult behaviours, so Life Education helps children learn about healthy eating being their 'good friend', good and bad substances and how their body works. Life Education Trust employs registered teachers who work in partnership with schools to meet the individual learning needs of children. Life Education Trust's very recognisable Harold the Giraffe visits many classrooms each year. Harold is a Giraffe because: giraffes stand tall (encouraging children to look up to their potential) and no two have the same spots (we're all different).

About us

We are a group of like minded folk passionate about making a difference to the people of Taranaki and the communities of New Zealand by doing what we love, riding our bikes. In doing so, we raise the profile of our chosen charity.

Use of funds

Funds will be distributed to all the regional Life Education Trust for front line education programmes.
