I'm planning a mission trip to El Salvador in May to work with disabled children in orphanages. Please help me get there!

Auckland

ABOUT ME:

I am a 19 year old student from Auckland, New Zealand, currently studying psychology and sociology at Auckland University.

Last year I attended Lipscomb University – a small, Christian university in Nashville, Tennessee, USA. Whilst here, I got the opportunity to go to El Salvador on a mission trip through our football team and a sports ministry organisation, Sports Outreach. We got to build a house for a struggling single mother, teach football and English to underprivileged children, help out with cooking, gardening and general chores in a local community, and work in an orphanage for disabled children and adults.

This trip really helped me find my true passion in life and reinforce my future dreams – to one day own a non-profit organisation, more specifically, an orphanage.

ABOUT THIS TRIP:

This year, I am returning with a smaller group from Lipscomb University, again with Sports Outreach. Unfortunately, the cost is a bit higher as I am flying from New Zealand rather than America, so I am reaching out to the community to help fund this trip.

I am paying for the flights myself, but need an extra $2500NZD to go towards accommodation, as well as the resources and supplies that we will be providing for the community, schools and the orphanage. It will help us provide these families and children with food, clothing, work and school supplies, as well as the tools we need for assisting in the building of a house and for teaching the children English and football.

I am willing to do jobs within the community to help raise these funds - whether it be babysitting, cleaning your house, walking your dog, or any other mundane task you simply don't want to do. Feel free to ask and I'm more than likely to oblige!

Please help me out in any way you can - every cent helps! With your support and generosity, I am praying that we can make this dream of mine a reality.

SPORTS OUTREACH:

Sports Outreach Institute is an organisation based out of Lynchburg, Virginia, which has an emphasis in sports ministry. They serve in Uganda, Kenya, Mexico, El Salvador, Lynchburg and Portland, sharing the word of the Gospel, while providing communities with food and equipment they require to survive.

The organisation is comprised of many different areas of service, including sports ministry, leadership training, feeding, training, public health, chess mentoring and child sponsorship. More can be read about their specific projects at their website, http://sportsoutreach.net/

I am a 19 year old student from Auckland, New Zealand.

I have spent 2 years studying in America, and am now back home studying Psychology and Sociology at Auckland University.

I have a passion for travelling, but, more importantly, for volunteering and working with children. I hope to work for a non-profit or orphanage in the future, and eventually own and run my own orphanage.
