Raising Funds as I have been chosen alongside 21 other year 13 students to be on the UN Youth’s annual Global Development Tour.
Bula, Kia ora My name is Jolenna Deo, I am a year 13 student at St. Dominic's Catholic College, Henderson (West Auckland represent!). The reason I made this page is that I have been blessed and chosen alongside 21 other year 13 students to be on the UN Youth’s annual Global Development Tour.
The UN Youth New Zealand Global Development Tour (GDT) is an unparalleled educational experience. The tour itself is focused around the United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and each SDG is integral to the development of our world. In order to gain a more encompassing and hands on view of the SDG, we are travelling to 7 major cities. Each city was chosen because they respectively align with specific SGD. The cities are New York, London, Paris, Berlin, Vienna, Rome and Hong Kong - I know, HOW EXCITING!!!
I have always dreamed of travelling for as long as I remember and In all honesty, I never thought I would have such an amazing opportunity like this! As a delegate on the GDT we will be meeting NGOs, policy makers and also representing New Zealand at the prestigious Columbia University Model United Nations and Columbia Exposition (CMUNCE). We hope to make this great nation, our respective schools and families proud.
If you want to know more about the tour this is UN Youths: New Zealand FB page https://www.facebook.com/unyouthnz/
This tour will be life changing and enriching in so many ways and as I move into tertiary study the experience will be extremely beneficial. I intend on studying a Law and Arts conjoint and this will include a double major in International Relations and Cultural Anthropology. The GDT will offer an opportunity to understand how nations work together to achieve common goals and I will experience real world learning in an immersive and interactive environment.
As it is Dreams aren’t free and this amazing once in a life time opportunity does come with a price tag. So as you donate know that you are are becoming part of my story by making my dreams become a reality. GDT is a month-long trip with the overall delegate fee being $8000 which means every dollar from this page will go towards that - so every dollar counts. I want you to know that I am also doing other fundraising ventures - I am trying all I can with the support of my loving family and friends.
I have worked hard towards being selected and at the same time I have been blessed with an opportunity to grow as a young change maker - and I would be grateful for helping hands or should I say wallets… So please, gift me your coffee money (or your money for avos on toast - millennial friends) and this is a plea to all non-coffee drinkers too, please consider supporting me on this AMAZING journey.
Loloma yani - much love and Vinaka vaka Levu - Thank you so much for taking the time to read and possibly donating, It is much appreciated.
The funds will go towards the $8000 delegate fee.
