My 12 year old son "Jordan's" Journey to being a developer/coder for gaming
Auckland
Jordan is a one of a kind kid, quirky, nerdy, loves hands on and so creative. Back in 2020 after the first lockdown he developed some anxiety about going back to the class room to learn. We decided that we would keep him home.
It has been quite the journey for him and I (Mum) but we have persevered and had lots of support along the way. One of the subjects that we incorporated into his lessons was coding which he did face to face initially and overtime and lockdowns he now does this via remote learning. The laptop that he has used since day dot is a HP Chromebook which has supported all his needs up until now. Now he requires a desktop or laptop that has way more additional requirements then his little Chromebook can handle. We knew that the upgrade was going to come sooner or later. By himself doing odd jobs has managed to raise and save $560.00. Which $500 was to go toward a emergency fund or rainy day account for him and anything over and above be added to his PC account. Unfortunately we didn't quite think it would happen as fast as it has which is great for Jordan because this means he has passed and completed all the projects/tasks his tutor has assigned to grow his knowledge in coding specifically around his readiness for coding Minecraft & introducing him to the gaming world. In order for him to code Minecraft & test his coding he needs upgrade which is why we have put this page together.
I am Jordan's whangai mum he has been with me since he was 3 years he will be 13 this year he is my forever son. He's smart, loving, gentle, cuddly & quirky he loves metal detecting, go carting, coding & he's quite the entrepreneur.
Gaming PC for coding & testing plus the peripherals e.g keyboard, screen, mouse & chair
