My dream is to start my own foundation, the purpose of starting a foundation to climb towers, buy wheelchairs and inspire the world.
Auckland
You want to make a difference. I know this because I believe every person wants to make a difference – I know I do! I’m sure you come across people every day who walk around with ease, enjoying life without a physical hindrance. However, there are people all over New Zealand and throughout the Pacific Islands, including myself, who struggle with this most simple of tasks – walking. I was born with Cerebral Palsy, a condition that affects my gross and fine motor skills such as walking and causes spasticity and imbalance, but I never let that stop me.
My journey, Jordon’s Climb for Awareness, started with a dream at 3am, and soon became a life goal – to help young people living with disabilities in the Pacific Islands and raise disability awareness, all by climbing the world’s tallest towers.
Reaching for great heights
You could say I’ve got a habit of conquering goals, having done so since I was young. However, I set myself my biggest challenge so far when I decided to climb the 1029 steps of Auckland’s SkyTower. That set off a chain of achievements, including:
• Conquering Melbourne’s Eureka Tower’s 1800 steps in 2012
• Climbing the Auckland Harbour Bridge for World Cerebral Palsy Day 2013
• Donating 16 rugged wheelchairs to young people in Samoa
• 2014 saw me reach the tops of 3 more towers, totalling 3000 steps
• Gaining over 14,000 supporters worldwide on my Jordon’s Climb for Awareness Facebook page
2015 is set to be a hugely exciting year, with three events already planned taller than before.
22nd February – Sky Point Tower, Gold Coast
1st March – Stratosphere Tower, Las Vegas
16TH September- Empire State building
My dream is to start my own foundation, the purpose of starting a foundation is to empower young people with dishabilles whether it to buy a rugged wheelchair for a person in the Pacific or supporting a young person with a disability to reach their goals in life.
Knowing that my body will not be able to climb towers for much longer, i am aiming to raise a sum of $50,000 so that this dream can live on.
I am complex guy with a simple dream, just to make a difference.. thankyou
the tower climber and dreamer!!
