Southland

Hi my name is Keegan .i am asking for any help to support my mother joelene (jo) who is currently in a critical condition in Dunedin hospital. Jo has suffered from a heart disorder which required a valve replacement in 2017.after a gruelling recovery process jo faught hard to regain the life she had before her heart operation.just one week ago,she began to feel unwell she was bed ridden with a fever. The following day she had deteriorated to the point that she had developed expressive disphasia and a dangerously high temperature an ambulance was called tests were done ,the next day she was flown to Dunedin hospital for an emergency 11 hour heart operation to attempt to save her life.she had suffered a bacterial endocarditis infection in the part of her heart that was operated on two years previously.she is fighting so hard to stay with us,but she is still in an induced coma with multiple internal organ complications.we want to be there for mum when she wakes up,to support and inspire her recovery.i have two younger sisters riley ,14 carly ,16 and a younger brother max,6,all of my siblings still live at home with her.while this is all happening they are in my care including my 3 kids , We have extremely limited financial resources, stressed about how we will be able to get to and from Dunedin ,accomdation with paying mums Bill's, food etc .if you are able to help us be with our mum and her road to recovery please give generously and send all your positive thoughts thankyou

Update on mum  12 February 2019

Sorry I haven’t updated on here

So mum has since woken up had her breathing tube removed ,moved to ccu ward where she can be closely watched ,she is now having physio with still no luck of moving her right side of her body ,mum has started to get very frustrated as to why she can’t talk ,she has recently started to point out pictures and listen to commands or questions with her only words yep and no .she has still fed by her tube but did eat a yogurt the other day .as the days are tiring for mum the nurses say at least another 3-5months for her taking one day at a time slowly but surely .mum had her first seizure on the 11th (last night as a result of all the trauma to the brain and hopefully meds stop that from happening again .anyhelp is still greatly appreciated for the coming months to visit and be with mum as she goes through her rehab when it comes the time 😊thanks
