Josh Bonnar - Competing in the 2023 Mercedes-Benz UCI Mountain Bike World Cup!!!

Hi there!

I'm Josh Bonnar, 17 years old and passionate and dedicated downhill mountain bike racer. I come from Queenstown and have a place in the 2023 KiwiDH race team to ride at this year's World Cup in Europe. I leave next month with my first race at the beginning of June.

I have had a good solid few years of racing, last year was been my entry year into UCI racing with great results right up to National level. This year I have continued riding at the same level and have been rewarded with an invitation to join a team of 10 in Europe.

I have always been on bikes, taking over the pathway at the local Plunket and wearing out shoes flying down roads on any toy with wheels. At 9, I got going on the local BMX dirt jumps whilst competing at NZ Nationals in MotoX. Then I moved into downhill biking at 12. I am fortunate to ride in an area with so many keen locals including elite riders to learn from. I've got a really flamboyant style am very approachable and a good role model to the younger local kids coming through the ranks.

I'm hoping to raise additional funds through Givealittle as this is a big ticket trip, my folks and I have saved hard.
