Keytruda Treatment. Single father in need of funding to continue melanoma cancer treatment.

Hawke's Bay

Hi my names Mark, I am a single father to two lovely young girls and this is a little bit about my battle with cancer. 10 years ago i was diagnosed with melanoma cancer. Since then I've been through over 7 major surgeries, which have taken its toll on my body to the point where unfortunately i had to give up working about a year and a half ago. In September 2015 a drug called Keytruda was released in New Zealand which targeted my type of cancer. Sadly this drug is not funded by Pharmac. My GP and myself managed to raise $40,000 through the generosity of local firms and companies in Hawkes Bay to get me started on Keytruda. Unfortunately the money we raised was only enough to receive 3 treatments. Already there has been a huge improvement in my health, which has been shown in my latest MRI's. We are now turning to generous friends and family as well as you yourself, the public of New Zealand for assistance in ongoing treatments in the near future.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
