Support the victims of the July 8th Hillsborough House Fire

Hillsborough, Auckland

A Single mother and her 6 children under 12 have had their whole lives destroyed by a catastrophic house fire this month.

Thankfully everyone escaped with their lives and nobody was injured. The family had no insurance and were renting at the property. All of their worldly possesions and keepsakes but the clothes on their backs were destroyed in the blaze and we are desperately seeking support to help get this incredible young family back on their feet.

Some of us have experienced the horror of losing our belongings in an event like this in our own lives.

We can't help but think of the young children whose toys and precious early memories, drawings, favourite blankets and art projects, school uniforms and resources were all destroyed in a matter of minutes as they stood on the roadside watching helplessly.

I write this on behalf of the family who are currently being supported by Whanau and friends through this difficult time. They wanted me to convey their appreciation and support for the incredible firefighters and response team who looked after them in the immediate aftermath.

If you or someone you know are able, please lend your support to this family in need. Winter is a tough time for all of us. This year especially with a cost of living crisis. If you cannot contribute, please consider sharing this page as any little bit helps.

Aroha nui, and Thank you.

Hey Awa and whānau, I was really moved to hear about your loss and can only imagine what it must be like for you. I've been saving this money over the last few years in my 'giving jar', and I felt this was the right time to use it. I know it's not a lot in the grand scheme of things, but I it may bless you and your family. Lots of love.
