Daniel’s life was violently taken from him. Help us support his whānau and seek justice for him and other victims of violence.
New Plymouth, Taranaki
On July 29th, our beloved Daniel Nganeko was tragically taken from us after a coward punch – a single, unprovoked act of violence that ended a young life filled with love, promise and light.
Daniel was a cherished son, twin brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. Known for his creativity, kindness and infectious smile, his loss has left a devastating impact on his whānau, friends and community.
This page has been created to support Daniel’s whānau with funeral and memorial costs, and to give them space to grieve without financial pressure.
But it also goes beyond that.
We are committed to ensuring Daniel’s death is not in vain. Part of the funds raised will go towards advocacy and support to fast-track the introduction of the pending Coward Punch Law in Aotearoa.
We want justice for Daniel, and for every injury and life lost to this horrible violence. We will make sure his story is heard, not just as a tragedy, but as a call to action.
Please share this page far and wide. There is strength in awareness. Please speak up and join us in demanding this change. Your donations will help us honour Daniel with love and justice.
"One punch can kill. One law can protect. Let’s come together for my brother and others affected by this cowardly act. It’s time we hold these gutless criminals accountable. Those who have reckless disregard for life and attack the defenseless." -Cameron Nganeko, Daniel’s twin brother.
Thank you for your support, your voice, and your belief in a safer Aotearoa.

An update to say thank you for all of your donations. Your generosity, big or small, shows the deep love the community is sending the whānau. The support is greatly appreciated from Daniels family and friends, and they are really feeling it. Everybody is so proud of our community for coming together to support the Nganeko family and the coward punch movement. I have updated the page to add Cameron’s Facebook page Cowardpunchmovement. If you could please follow this page in support of Cameron and family and Daniels legacy. Aroha Nui.
Thank you so much x
