Coal visited us yesterday for his turn at the K9 Retreat. What a lovely boy, and those ears.... He had a great time playing with toys and getting a few treats. He was keen to get into the pool to get some toys and after a few goes at figuring the steps out he was away. After play time and swimming he enjoyed a warm water wash shampoo/conditioner treatment and massage. He had a fab day out and returned to the Nelson SPCA centre smelling delightfully of coconut. Thank you to those who have donated and given the shelter dogs a chance to have an amazing experience. We have enough funds left for another 6 dogs at this stage, so if you are able to share out our Givealittle page that would be much appreciated.

Today's pupper for the shelter dog K9 Spa was incredibly sweet. Although we can't share photos due to privacy reasons, the experience was memorable for us all. Initially, we spent time with her and some toys, but she showed little interest in the toys, so we transitioned to the pool area to help her become comfortable with the water. As expected, she adored the treats along the way, however seemed a little hesitant about getting in the pool, so instead we opted to shower her with affection, treats, and a K9 massage. After all, it's about ensuring each dog has a joyful experience, and we strive to meet their unique needs. She then hopped onto the outdoor couch with us, and Alita treated her to a body massage. She relished it to the point of falling asleep and snoring, so adorable. She appeared so serene and content that none of us had the heart to disturb her slumber. We all hung out there until she was ready to return to the shelter.

We are hoping that she may be able to return another day for another K9 massage.

All this is made possible with the donations from this Givealittle page, thank you to those who have donated

Andre, the sweetest boy, was next in line for a visit to the K9 Spa. As a nervous pup with limited worldly experiences, he was curious yet somewhat reserved about new places and experiences. We spent time with him outside the pool area, engaging him with toys and treats, which gradually made him more confident. A true people's dog, Andre would snuggle up next to us for some treats and affectionate pats. To ease his nerves, we accompanied him to the pool area, where he was showered with treats, pats, and a K9 massage. He thoroughly enjoyed this pampering, which left him very relaxed and eventually dozing off. He will be available for adoption at the Nelson SPCA

Pearl is such a sweetheart, so playful and she had an absolute blast at her K9 Retreat today. She got to pick out some toys, squeakers were her favourite, she loved the pool, in fact within 10 mins she was leaping off the stairs into the pool like an athlete. Pearl had a smile on her face that made us all very happy. Thank you to those who donated to give Pearl a fun time away from the shelter. She left with her certificate and a bag of treats to take with her.

Noggin was collected from the Shelter on Saturday for his K9 retreat. Such a delightful boy. Following a pleasant walk, he enjoyed time by the pool. Presented with a box full of toys, he chose an orange ball and several stuffed toys. He thoroughly enjoyed playing with us and took a particular liking to the pool, swimming about, and indulging in treats and cuddles. He even received a lovely spa treatment before his return to the shelter. While he is not available for adoption at the moment, we hope he will be in the near future. Thanks to your generous donations he had a lovely day out.

Berta is an adorable girl, so sweet and gentle. She had fun playing with toys, her favourite being the rubber fish. She was intrigued by the pool, especially the splashes and bubbles. She mostly likely has not been a water dog, so we took it gently with her and once she was in the water she got lots of treats and a K9 massage which she enjoyed. She will make someone an awesome companion. She had a great time out which made everyone happy. Berta is available for adoption at the Nelson SPCA https://www.spca.nz/adopt/animal/614783/dog-berta-nelson

The adorable Nikolai had his K9 Swim session today. What an adorable pupper he is. Such a gentle soul. He was slightly nervous about the water, but he loved to play with toys and enjoy some treats. A nice gentle way to coax him into water play. He really loved the soft toy pheasant and he and Aaron had a great game with that. He loved attention, play and just being around everyone. He will make someone an awesome companion. We loved hanging out with Nikolai and after his K9 spa treatment it was back to the shelter to have a snooze to wait for his forever home.

Thank you to those who have donated. On Saturday we did our first pupper 'Teddy" from the Nelson SPCA. He was taken for a walk, which he loved, so many new things to smell and see. Then off to the pool for some fun. He had a great time playing with toys and getting lots of pats and attention which he REALLY loves. Then it was time to get in the pool. Teddy's confidence in the water increased in the time he was there; he particularly loved the K9 massage while he was in there. Teddy is available for adoption, you can check out the Nelson SPCA adopt page.
