Buy a bed for KAASO!
Finally, schools in Uganda reopened in January 2022. For many students, it was their first time back at school in nearly two years since Uganda's first lockdown in March 2021 so they were VERY excited to return!
However, we have a small issue - KAASO doesn't have enough double decker metal bunk beds to house all of the returning students. The current beds are wooden triple decker bunks which are not only illegal, the wood is frequently infested with bed bugs which then transfer to the children's mattresses and cause all kinds of issues.
We are hoping to purchase 120 metal double decker bunks (240 beds total) to house the students.
Each double decker bunk bed set is 350,000 UGX which is:

Use of funds
All funds will go to buying new double decker metal bunk beds for KAASO - and no amount is too small! Even if you can't buy an entire bed, every dollar counts so anything you can give will be put to good use - and greatly appreciated.

We did it! 22 July 2022
With huge thanks to Luke Marks & Carly Shiels, our current volunteers from Australia at KAASO, the bunk bed project is now complete! They launched a supplementary fundraising page in Australia and between that page, our UK-based Unity is Strength page and this page, we have now raised funds for all 240 beds. KAASO will have bed-bug-infested wooden triple decker bunk beds no longer!
A team is working every day at KAASO to get all the bunks made and the children are thrilled with their new bunks.
A HUGE thank you to all who helped make this incredibly ambitious dream come true - we are forever grateful!
