KAASO Bunk Bed fundraiser!

    With huge thanks to Luke Marks & Carly Shiels, our current volunteers from Australia at KAASO, the bunk bed project is now complete! They launched a supplementary fundraising page in Australia and between that page, our UK-based Unity is Strength page and this page, we have now raised funds for all 240 beds. KAASO will have bed-bug-infested wooden triple decker bunk beds no longer!

    A team is working every day at KAASO to get all the bunks made and the children are thrilled with their new bunks.

    A HUGE thank you to all who helped make this incredibly ambitious dream come true - we are forever grateful!

  • Nothing is wasted!

    In true KAASO fashion, Dominic recently sent me through a bunch of images showing the old wood from the triple decker bunk beds which has now been cleaned and repurposed to construct chairs for the nursery students as well as classroom shelving. Nothing is wasted! We have now raised funds for 166 beds and they are all full of happy KAASO children. Thank you so much for all your support!

  • 140 beds!

    Greetings to our amazing donors,

    I am incredibly proud to report that we have raised funds for 140 beds which are now in the dormitories and being enjoyed by the KAASO children. What an incredible achievement! Thank you so much to all those who have so generously donated over the past few months.

    There are still 100 beds to go to complete our mission so I will leave this page ticking along for anyone who still wishes to donate over the coming weeks and months.

    Thanks again for your overwhelming support, the KAASO family is forever grateful.

  • 115 beds!

    Wow!

    I'm absolutely blown away by the support we have received for our bunk bed fundraiser. So far, between our UK and NZ fundraising pages, we have raised enough to buy 115 beds from generous donations coming in from around the world. Thank you so much to all those who have contributed - you are incredible!

    What has also blown me away is how KAASO has responded to this fundraiser. I shouldn't still be surprised by what they manage to achieve but, nevertheless, it still never ceases to amaze me how Dominic and Rose go about making things happen. In response to our fundraiser, Dominic has commissioned Nakazzi Rose, a parent with two children at KAASO who has her own welding company, to make the beds. Nakazzi Rose's team have set up a satellite workshop on site at KAASO and have been busy fabricating the bunk beds, working around the clock to make this happen. They have so far made 24 beds and are busy putting together more each day. The below photo shows the latest beds ready to be painted.

    The KAASO gates are FINALLY due to reopen on Monday and children have already begun to arrive in preparation for the new school year - almost two years since many of them were last at school... They are so excited to see their new beds being made before their eyes.

  • 78 Beds so far!
