Help Kai Rescue Help Our Community. Kai Rescue reduces hunger and food waste in Nelson Tasman.
Nelson / Tasman
Kai Rescue was established by the Nelson Environment Centre in 2017 to help minimise food waste in Nelson-Tasman. After more than 2 years of operation, Kai Rescue has an important place in our community and is making a huge impact in waste reduction and redistribution of food to people in need.
• 5500 – 6500 meals worth of food shared each week
• 240 tonnes of food diverted from landfill so far
• 50+ Charitable Organisation Partnerships
• 30+ Volunteers help us each week
There is a significant annual cost to operate Kai Rescue, including staff, vans and on-road costs, rent, insurance and utilities. We use volunteers and keep the operation costs low, however we still need funding to keep this important programme going.
The Nelson Environment Centre is a non-profit organisation that helps the Nelson Tasman community live more sustainably and reduce its impact on the environment. We deliver programmes and provide information to assist people to take positive action.
Donated funds will keep the Kai Rescue programme operating for 2019-20.
