We are looking for help to raise $31,500 to cover our free counselling service for the 12 months from July 2019 to June 2020.
As Family Support Services Kaiwaka/Mangawhai Incorporated, we provide these services to adults and children out of our centre, Kates Place Community House, in Kaiwaka, Northland. We service Kaiwaka, Mangawhai, Maungaturoto, and Wellsford.
We currently have people who are considering suicide, who are affected by addiction, family breakdowns, violence, anxiety and depression, and relationship difficulties.
We have over 3000 cases of support each year and the people that come to us are from a wide range of backgrounds, socio-economic groups, ethnicity, and gender.
Sometimes people are not able to get the support they need because they do not fit into government criteria, or the government service is severely overloaded, and they cannot afford private counselling. These people end up falling through the cracks, isolated from the support they need.
We are an independent, non-government funded organisation and require support from our communities and private funding to provide our services.
If you donate to this essential service you can become a supporter of our organisation and will be sent progress reports and be invited to an annual event where all supporters hear a report of the years results and achievements.
The $31,500 will be used to provide 10 free counselling sessions per week at a cost of $60 per session, for 50 weeks of the year. This also includes a $1500 fee to Givealittle for using their website.
