An everyday couple’s story illuminates acceptance, empowerment and what it means to belong to oneself first and foremost.

Auckland

Kamasutra Chronicles is a contemporary response to an ancient Indian text – The Kama Sutra, written by Vatsayana in the third century (AD). Expect some magic as the original author comes alive, along with Vasant Sena, a sassy, sultry courtesan. The powerhouse muse’s wedge themselves into the mundane domesticity of an everyday couple - Ishita and Rishabh.

Power, pleasure, sexism and satire. The magic is in the interpretation.

With all our powers combined (talents, skillsets, creative aspirations) we’re aiming to tell this tale. Director Dione Joseph, Playwright Shriya Bhagwat along with Producer Nilam Patel, are working tirelessly and passionately behind the scenes to bring the ensemble to life.

The production is expected to be on at Basement Theatre in Auckland, 30th March - 4th April.

Therefore, we are asking you to be bold and brave, and back us. A little goes a long way and though the donations received, we want to look after our cast and crew by offering them a small koha (donation) for their all mahi (work) going into the production.

Use of funds

Funds received will go towards costumes, props, lighting and the involvement of our cast and crew. We want to ensure no individual has to work to a personal loss to be involved in the production.
