Kane is turning 11 today, HAPPY BIRTHDAY KANE !!!...

Kane woke up early today as he will celebrate his birthday with his classmate. Kane arrived at school and everyone cheering him. He join the class roll call, when teacher called his name he said - Yes, Present...

He said it felt good to be able did the roll call again after away for few months.

After roll call, the students and teacher sing HAPPY BIRTHDAY SONG for Kane and then we left as we need to go to hospital for a check up appointment.

At 10.30am we arrived at CHOC outpatient and the nurse and doctor sang Happy birthday for Kane. Around 11am-ish Doctor Amanda called us to talk in private. She shared the CT scan result; the tumors shrink significantly compare to the first time; However the current size it's not up to the expected size; Doctor still not too sure whether or not the Burkitt's Lymphoma still active around his tummy. To get more information on that; Kane will need to go through another biopsy surgery on Wed 31 Oct 18.

Today, Kane get granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) to boost his neutropils number up. He will had one again tomorrow; Hopefully by Wednesday, his bloods level are up and ready for the surgery.

This medication given to Kane through injection on his arms; he was cried out loud as he was scared of the injection; the nurse gave him the numb gel and within second, the medication was in his body and Kane was settled again.

With this new result; there will be an alter on Kane's chemo plan. We will find out more once doctor get the result from Biopsy

At 6pm - Kane had a livestream on youtube with one of Shane's youtuber mates.

    https://youtu.be/u05NRpTT-FE

This livestream is also a fundraising for Kane. The livestream finish at 9pm-ish

Kane really had a good time on his birthday

  • [RECAP] for a week

    Hi Everyone,

Sorry for not keeping the page updated last week, as I have my best friends visited Christchurch since Monday 15 Oct 18 until 20 Oct 18.

Last week was a very good week for Kane. No pain apart from the NG tube annoyed his throat.

Currently Kane is on his break before his next cycle on 30 Oct 2018.

Doctor gave us an OK to take Kane out and about as his blood counts are good.

    Tuesday 16 Oct 18

We went for a drive and enjoying the scenery. Kane still feel not comfortable with his throat. No fever. it's appear that the NG tube really annoyed him.

    Wednesday 17 Oct 18 and Thursday 18 Oct 18

Kane pretty much staying at home, relaxing as he will have check up appointment on Friday 19 Oct 18.

No pain, no fever just the NG tube discomfort

overall, Kane enjoyed the time out and about as he feels normal again, out from Hospital and home.

    Friday 19 Oct 18

While Kane had his breakfast; the NG tube came out. he was crying because he was afraid to think how's the doctor will have the tube back in. Last time, he had that one in when he has his surgery.

I told Kane, whatever the doctor's decision, let's face it together.

Called Hospital to let them know about the NG tube; they said no need to keep the old tube and they will decide once Kane at the hospital for a check up

At check-up time; Doctor happy with his progress and gave us another OK for Kane to have a visit to school as well. And in regards of NG tube, we had a discussion with dietitian and Good News, Kane doesn't have to have the NG tube in; they allowed Kane without it while he is at home and will review again once he starts his next cycle.

Next Friday 26 Oct 18 - Kane will have another check-up and CT scans to get more accurate results on his tumors progress.

After finished with the check-up, we took Kane to school for a visit; he was so happy; his eyes sparkling and I can see that he can't wait to see his friend.

When we arrived at school, we went to see the principal and have a quick chat; she allowed us to take Kane to his class to meet his friend.

Then we walked to the class and then surprising his friends with his present. Everyone so excited to see Kane and all came gather to listen to Kane's story.

He then share his treatment and hospital journey; he even showed his friends his hickman line.

when Kane took his beanie off; everyone suddenly quiet; then Shane - his dad - asked to the class - give 2 thumbs up if you think Kane's hairstyle is awesome . All of them gave their 2 thumbs up and I can see Kane's smile wider.

He did say to us that he was so nervous having a bald head; but we convince him that nothing is wrong with his head being bald. it will grow back.

The support that his classmate gave him, indeed give him more confidence..

After from school we back home again, and Kane had a relax time

At 6pm we went out for dinner at the city and again, Kane enjoying his out and about experience. those out and about experiences really uplifting his spirits

    Saturday 20 Oct 18 - Monday 22 Oct 18

Kane staying at home and relax. He had very good sleep resulting a good energy for the next day
