John and Juliet have both been selected to represent New Zealand at the Commonwealth Karate Champs in Durban, South Africa, September 2017.

Unfortunately the Commonwealth Champs have been cancelled, however there are other International tournaments coming up including the GKR World cup in Sydney and a possibility of the World Junior Champs in Spain. This is an amazing opportunity for my two children to represent New Zealand after both won medals at the Oceania Champs last year in New Caledonia. All costs are funded by families, so we are looking for some support in this as all the fundraising BBQs just won't be enough! They will be competing in their age (18 and 16 yrs) and weight divisions for kumite (and kata in the GKR Worlds).
As their mother, I spend a large proportion of my time running these two to training and competitions and there are large costs involved. There are many overseas trips and in the past we have paid for these, but there are more and more, so looking for support.
Funds will be used to pay for flights, accommodation, visas, and transport to and from the venue.
Change of plans 17 May 2017
Thanks so much to those who have donated so far. Unfortunately the Commonwealth Karate Council have pulled the plug on the competition in South Africa and it is no longer happening. We are waiting to hear about the World Cup in Spain and will keep this page alive for that purpose. The money will be spent on overseas tournaments but if you would rather have it returned, please contact me.
