On the 6th of May in the early hours of the morning Ruby Turner was born at 26 weeks 5 days gestation weighing 530 grams. She has been a little fighter so far and is making her family and friends especially her mum and dad so proud.

On the 21st of May while visiting Ruby in the Auckland Hospital NICU Kate unexpectedly suffered a ruptured heart valve and underwent emergency open heart surgery.

She is currently stable and on life support. She will need to undergo further surgeries and extensive rehabilitation over the next few months.

This page has been set up to help support Kate's fiance Joe Turner and their baby Ruby Turner during this traumatic time. All funds will go towards supporting Joe financially over this difficult period which at this stage will be months.

Update (Extending the Page) 22 June 2018

Hi everyone, Joes family and my family would like to give you all an update on Kate and Ruby.

Ruby is doing well and is mostly stable- she has more than doubled her birth weight (as of this morning she is 1.140 kilos). Shes absolutely gorgeous and adored by us all 💜.

Kate is conscious and recovering slowly- unfortunately she has suffered a brain injury and it will be a long recovery for her. We're lucky enough to be able to communicate with yes/no questions while shes on a ventilator. Her heart is healing well and we're hopeful for a positive future.

Please keep both Kate and Ruby in your thoughts and prayers, they've both come so far but we still have a very long road ahead. 💜💙💜
