Kate Poulsen is running over 14 half marathons to raise awareness for the Retired Working Dogs Charitable Trust NZ.
Otago
Hi there, my names Kate Poulsen, a casual shepherd in Otago.
It’s my privilege to have 8 working dogs.
My goal over the next few months and into the new year is to run as many half marathons as I can, looking at 14 at this stage to raise awareness for the awesome work that Retired Working Dogs NZ do. 21.2kms is the distance of a half marathon. In the summer months, most working dogs in NZ would do well over that, just in one day, for seven days a week, all because they absolutely love their jobs.
I know first hand how incredibly hard workings dogs work for the majority of their life, that’s why I have chosen to run and raise awareness and hopefully some money for RWD, because I truely believe RWD are doing an absolute amazing job and giving all these hard working souls, great new homes! - KP.
Retired Working Dogs NZ Charitable Trust has been rehoming working breed dogs throughout the country since 2012.
Retired and “failed” dogs, dogs who have had career ending injuries, and working breed pet dogs all come under the umbrella.
The charity advertises dogs on behalf of farmers, as well as taking dogs into their foster network for rehoming. Dogs that come into foster are desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and registered. RWDNZ relies on donations to continue the work that they do.
Thanks for much for your support. - KP.
