Forest Run Fest.
20 August 2023
Yesterday we went up to Bottle Lake Forest in Christchurch. I really enjoyed this type of run. It was running through forest tracks and sand dunes. Lovely warm day, the warmest run I’ve had since I started a couple months ago. Knocked a few minutes off the last runs time which is a bonus. 1:54.
Next month is looking very busy with 4 runs within the month. Next run is 10 August, Dunedin.
Thanks so much for your support! ⭐️
South Island Half Marathon today at Lake Hood. 6 August 2023
The last couple of weeks in the lead up to this run hasn’t been the best. I only really got three short runs in totalling 20km, after being out for a week with a shin niggle! + lots of travelling for work makes the days a bit shorter. - but you wouldn’t have known after todays effort.
Todays run was really good! A beautiful course, three laps around Lake Hood, it really is a lovely place.
After battling the wind each lap, up one side of the course, I was really surprised when I came in at 1hr:57mins
Doing these runs give me a whole lot more appreciation for how hard my workings dogs work, although today, mine all stayed at home, I’m going to give them all an extra pat on the back tonight when I get home, because 21kms would be an average day in the summer for them. They could be doing this 5 days + a week and they absolutely love every minute of it.
Next up we head to Christchurch in a couple of weeks to run at Forest Run Fest. That will tidy up August. September is looking very busy with 4 runs within the month.
Thanks for the awesome support so far! I appreciate each and every one of you!
Today I went to Fairlie to run the Mackenzie half marathon. This was the first planned run of 14. Next run is 6 August, the South Island Half Marathon in Lake Hood.
Todays run was really good, such a great atmosphere. Weather was absolutely beautiful, really warm. Felt like
Spring! Wet feet to start the morning with a couple of river crossings then up a challenging hill, then onto some lovely farmland to come back down then through some forest back to the Fairlie Village.
Roughly from memory looking at the clock when I came in, about 2hrs 14mins.
Thank you to all who have donated money so far. You have no idea how much it means to me to be supported along the way.
Few weeks until the next run, will keep you updated.
Thanks
