A free, privacy-first browser with on-device AI — made in Aotearoa, funded by people instead of investors.
Wellington
Velnode is a web browser built differently: no tracking ads, no data selling, no outside investors steering the wheel. Your data lives on your device, the AI assistant runs on your device, and the browser is free forever — every feature.
It's built in Aotearoa New Zealand by Dignity New Zealand Limited, and it's funded the only way an independent browser can be: by the people who use it and believe in it.
Your koha goes directly into development — starting with the code-signing certificate that removes Windows' "unknown publisher" warning and unlocks safe automatic updates for every user.
Try the browser free at velnode.app — and thank you, whether you give or simply tell a friend. 🌿
First: the code-signing certificate that removes Windows' "unknown publisher" warning and enables safe automatic updates. Beyond that: ongoing development — encrypted-sync infrastructure, security audits, and keeping Velnode free for everyone.
Built here. Backed here? 2 August 2026
The main thing this page first raised money for was a Windows code-signing certificate — so Windows stops warning "unknown publisher" when someone installs Velnode. That's now sorted; I covered it myself.
So here's the honest ask, aimed at fellow New Zealanders.
Nearly every browser you're offered is built by a very large company overseas, and almost all of them make their money from knowing what you do online. Velnode is built here, by one person, and it makes its money from nobody — free, every feature, no ads, no data sold, no outside investors.
If you haven't tried it: it blocks ads and trackers, keeps your passwords in an encrypted vault, and runs its AI assistant on your own machine instead of someone else's servers.
What this page funds now:
🛡️ An independent security audit — Velnode holds passwords. You shouldn't have to take my word that it's built properly.
🌐 Hosting and downloads — every installer served, every update delivered.
⏳ Development time — the hours that go into it.
Straight talk: Dignity New Zealand Limited is a company, not a registered charity, so there's no tax receipt.
If you'd like at least one browser that answers to people here rather than advertisers offshore, this is where you can back it. Any amount helps, and Velnode stays free either way.
A donation isn't a purchase — it unlocks nothing. It just keeps an independent browser independent.
Ngā mihi nui,
