Kelly Smith's Project “Get back to my Boys”

What started as bruising and a few blood noses has quickly turned into a fight that no one ever expected.

On Tuesday the 18th January 2022, Kelly Smith was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. This has obviously been a huge shock to her family and friends as less than 2 weeks ago she was flying down the Waitangi mountain bike tracks, keeping up with her two young boys and super fast hubby Warren.

Kelly has started intense chemotherapy treatments in Auckland and will potentially be there for the next 4-6 months. Kelly is lucky to have Lorraine (her mum) and Warren as her support people while in Auckland and between them both they will juggle, spending time with Kelly, supporting the boys and Warren's work commitments.

With all the kind words and offers of support we have decided the best way to manage this is with the give a little page. Our intention is to make the next few months as stress-free as possible for Kelly, Warren and Lorraine by helping out with financial support to cover the costs of fuel, food and unexpected expenses, as well as the usual expenses that don't go away when you are unwell and not working.

Kelly is an amazing mum to her two awesome boys Mason & Dion, a rock for her lovely husband Warren and a loyal daughter to Lorraine. She is the best friend of many, a highly motivated colleague, and a valued member of many sporting communities. This family is going to need all the help they can get for the foreseeable future and we are committed to giving them every bit of support they need, for as long as they may need it. As most of you will know Kelly adores her friends and is extremely close with her family. It is without a doubt if the roles were reversed, Kelly would be and has been the first person to do whatever she can to support anyone else in her position.
