So, you’re reading my shameless request for donations – thanks! Keep reading to see what I’m up to next :)
Wellington
This year I qualified for and will be representing New Zealand at the 2017 Long Distance World Championship to be held in Penticton, Canada in August.
As some of you will already know I love a good challenge, first it was the Coast to Coast longest day in 2013. Then it was Ironman in 2015, followed up by the 100km Ultra-Trail Australia in 2016. This year this is the race. The big one.
I am super excited about this event and racing for New Zealand in Canada. Just recently I represented my age group in the New Zealand Masters’ Hockey team in a test series against Australia. Honestly, wearing the Silver Fern and hearing the National anthem is something I never thought I would get the chance to do. To do this twice in one year for two different sports - goodness me, I’m very very lucky.
I am coached by the amazing Mr Smith and his support, training plans and advice throughout all of my adventures is unprecedented. I trust in his programs and have no doubt if I follow this one and look after myself, this race will be a personal success.
To compete in Canada as an amateur athlete I need to pay my own way and there are obviously many costs involved. Funds raised from this page will go towards my race entry fees, International Racing License, New Zealand team uniform, flights to and from Canada with the NZ Tri team and accommodation in Penticton for the week build up.
