Gisborne
Keri is a hardworking young girl with a passion to be on the water. She and her team recently won 3 gold at the waka ama nationals in Lake karapiro at the beginning of this year and qualified for the waka ama world championships in the sunshine coast in may this year.
She needs all the help she can get to help get her to the world championships. No matter how big or small the donation may be, all is appreciated.
Keris story:
I have been paddling since I was 11 years old. Through Waka ama I have learnt some core life skills such as, discipline, commitment and responsibility.
Through this sport I have won 8 gold medals and 2 silver medals. Also I have been ranked 6th individually for my category in New Zealand.
For the past 4 years I have not had a school holiday break. This is because I am always on the water. In the school holidays I train 3 times a day, each training lasting up to 3 hours.
I currently train at 6am every morning before school and 4pm every day after school. Which is slightly difficult trying to balance my school work and training, but I am working on it. :)
Recently I competed at the National sprint championships and was part of a team of 6 who won 3 gold and qualified for the world championships which is being held in the Sunshine Coast in May. I am currently individually ranked the 6th fastest under 16 girl in New Zealand.
My dream and ultimate goal is to be on the podium of the world championships wearing a gold medal around my neck.
