I am raising funds to put towards travel and accommodation to allow me to compete in the 2019 World Taekwondo Championships.
Canterbury
I have created this page as I am on the New Zealand National Taekwondo tournament team and am currently training to compete at the 2019 World Championships, which is to be held in Manchester in May this year.
New Zealand Taekwondo athletes do not currently receive funding to attend any national or international tournaments, so events like this one, even though I would be representing New Zealand, is 100% self-funded. In addition to my daily training schedule, my coach (Corey Shaw) has organised for me to compete in the 2019 US Open Taekwondo Championships, to be help in March this year, along with the Puerto Rico Open in April, to gain invaluable experience in the lead up to Worlds. Fund-raising efforts are underway to help cover some of the expenses of getting Corey and myself to each of these events, but they are likely to largely be self-funded.
Funds raised from this page would be put towards our flights and accommodation to compete in Manchester.
Representing our small but proud country in Taekwondo is not only a huge honour for me, but it also shows our sport's young athletes that it is possible to go beyond our shores and compete internationally in something that we are all so passionate about. Any donations to help us achieve this would be greatly appreciated.
Funds will go towards flights and accommodation for my coach, Corey Shaw, and I for our trip to Manchester in May to represent New Zealand at the Taekwondo World Championships.
