Kidz LIFE (Learning In a Fun Environment) is a community based, educational, low cost programme for whanau in Palmerston North

Nationwide

Kidz LIFE was started in October 2012 to meet a need in our community. While we provide care for some working parents, our main focus is to provide educational programmes that broaden the horizons of young people in Palmerston North, specifically within the western suburbs. The programme is open to all children regardless of where they live or their family circumstances.

In July 2014 a new model was trialled, whereby the intermediate aged children (11-13yrs) were give their own unique programme. This model was highly successful and in October 2014 our entire programme was separated into four mini programmes determined by school years:

BLUE group Years 1 & 2

YELLOW group Years 3 & 4

GREEN group Years 5 & 6

FUSION for Years 7, 8, & 9

Kidz LIFE is reaching whanau that otherwise would not access holiday care due to the cost. Young people who would otherwise have very little to do in the holidays, or even be left at home unsupervised, are thriving within our programme/s.

FUSION is looking to extend into the school term, such as engaging with families and young people on a more regular basis through social events and shared meals. The young people are very receptive to FUSION and it provides them a place to belong at this crucial age and stage of their lives.

As we aim to accommodate whanau from all backgrounds, we are a non profit programme, and therefore we rely heavily on funding grants and the generosity of funders and donors to enable us to offer young people amazing opportunities at very low cost.
