To help take some financial pressure of Kiri's parents so they can focus on her recovery.
Paraparaumu, Wellington
Kiri is a smart, sassy, full on 10 year old who lives and breathes cheerleading. She has a big, kind heart but sadly that big heart was close to stopping only a few days ago. No warning except for a few weeks of a sometimes sore tummy and throat then *WHAM* heartbeat of 200bpm and emergency flight to Starship where she'll be hooked up to all of the scary heart saving machinery for quite a while.
Kiri, her Mum and Dad (Leticia & Rik) are far from home, her sisters and the rest of their whanau. It's hard and we want to make it a bit easier for them so they can focus their energy on Kiri getting better not have to worry about the every day things that can cause worry and hardship.
The Armstrong's are like our own family, our kids are the same age and growing up together. They're an important part of our wider neighbourhood whanau and we, like you, want to help them as much as we can
Helping the family with the everyday costs associated with being away from home and each other for no one knows how long
June 2023 Update 7 June 2023
Most of you would have seen my Facebook post, but some of you that donated, may not be on Facebook, so I thought I would update this page.
7 months on from leaving Starship with Kiri, she is now completely normal as far as heart function goes. We caught up with some Starship doctors on Friday 2nd June and they are very happy with her. We are beyond grateful to everyone that has helped us thru this.
Kiri still takes medication daily and will have yearly check-ups at Wellington Hospital, and in 3 years time will have a Starship visit, where they will discussed the plan to get rid of the extra cell in her heart.
Thank you very much Lee and Brendon
