Hi I'm James and I am a modern day knight trying to make it on the international stage. I am looking to represent NZ in Moscow in Dec.
Auckland
I am looking to represent my country for the 4th time internationally at the Dynamo cup in Moscow Russia during December, alongside with a strong Kiwi team, the NZ SteelBlacks, captained by HMBNZ captain Rob McIntyre.
It has been very short notice (4 weeks) but I'm going in 100% heart and soul. There is too much to gain in experience to miss this opportunity, being able to fight against the best teams in the world, in the biggest power base for the sport in the world. I intend to bring back experience to help further develop and build the sport here in NZ.
I have represented NZ in this sport in Malbork Poland in 2015 at the IMCF world championship, Prague Czech Republic at Battle of the Nations 2015, and captained the NZ side to the IMCF worlds in Portugal 2016, where we won the international team sportsmanship award.
This path has led me to educate youth and I've spoken to children in the Nederlands about the sport and my homeland of New Zealand. I am also active in a local schools social studies program, helping to educate about the sport and that period in history. Its something I think is very important and its amazing hearing how these kids follow the sport.
I live in Auckland and run the biggest club in NZ and have coached students to a good number of gold and silver medals nationally.
Doing something like this givealittle is way out of my comfort zone, but there are people wanting me to do this that believe in me and what I do. And I promised someone I would.
Any funding will be used to help with any incurred costs with travel, luggage, insurance and helping if there are armour or equipment failures, if a smith is needed.
I will step onto the lists and hold the line alongside my brothers in the Steel Blacks team.
I am a fighter, and I fight to promote New Zealand overseas and to bring back the knowledge and experience needed to grow the sport here in NZ.
